In coded terms, db has bc. Diagnosis late Sept, op late Oct, on with chemo at the moment… hair falling as we speak. All strong but it does suck.

Egg on A start is better than nothing.

Ah, my head’s so cloudy from this flu. At least I’m not feeling so guilty about missing work with the knowledge that my two team mates are now both also laid low with the lurgy. Feeling very sorry for them too though.

I’m pretty sure I’m on the way up.

I’ve been meaning to get on here for ages (wonder how many times those words appear in this blog…)

Facebook continues to be a fruitless addiction and I’m steering clear of twitter so the risk of even shorter, more frequent and benign entries from me is avoided.

Egg on Ah, head cold.

Pretty soon I should have plenty to write about. It will be my turn to be a ‘real’ auntie.

Today I bought my first real present for the little fella who is due just under two weeks away.

And last Sunday I got to hold a real pregnant belly and feel that life must be so warm and cosy in there. It was bizarre to think I haven’t experienced that before, and it was very fleeting, but it was so so amazing and tears are welling up again. I was, of course, engrossed in all the baby blogs a few years back but I still had no idea how amazing it all is up close.

I’m very proud of my sister. It’s been an amazing journey and the adventure hasn’t even begun. I feel like I want to thank her for bringing so much joy to us all.

They say you should just write. Write, write, write. I’ve been enjoying Facebook for the catch ups, but there’s just no writing involved.

I saw on Nicki’s blog that she felt the same about Twitter. I’m not really sure what twitter is or what it does yet… I guess it populates a bunch of different sites like blogs and facebook? Not sure.

There’s nothing like actually getting on a roll and just punching the keyboard for a while.

I tend to start most social emails with an apology that it will be quick, but in fact the six or so paras that I squeeze out in 5 mins comprises an email longer than anything I would ever see in the day… Aside from the multiple long-winded ads that I seem to have subscribed to over the years.

I’m pretty frustrated about how little there is on tv at the moment but then I have 400 blog entries to read/listen to. Not to mention my own words to write.

Egg on The come back queen is… back.

Another unwelcome surprise lobbed on me today. It’s been a while since I had one so it seems odd to complain, but given the embankment of old ones, I really don’t know where to stick the new one.

In health news, I went to the doctor today for a certificate because I still feely woozy after what I thought was food poisoning which struck at about 3am Sunday morning. He tells me that it’s acute gastro and that I could do with tomorrow off as well. Who am I to argue.

I’m home alone and desperately in need of a change of scenery and re-runs of the same news stories all day so I’m planning a camping trip to the flight deck with my laptop, some dvds and the dawg. I have Paris, The Kite Runner, and The History Boys, all vids I have wanted to see but they haven’t been up DB’s ally. I’m sure Gem will like them and the adventure upstairs.

Egg on Sick days become sick nights.

I’ve been in a pickle since about 2.30am on Saturday night, a fair dose of food poisoning I’m guessing.

Still pretty crook, but sitting up and almost ok to construct a sentence.

Bit of a shame being a long weekend and all, and it’s not like me to sleep through the second half of a grand final, but I’m feeling lucky that I can appreciate feeling healthy again.

Egg on It’s not often I say it but today I don’t love food.

Being new to the cargo game, I’m stoked that the BBC have started up a project called The Box where they are going to track a self promoting shipping container for a year.

The aim is to teach people about world trade and globalisation but for me it’s a really good behind the scenes look at an industry that my work is related to but coordinated from an office nowhere near a wharf.

I did email them asking if they will be selling tee-shirts or money boxes depicting The Box, but I’m happy to say that I stumbled across a cut out, make it yourself model. Might get cracking on that today.

Egg on If you can’t have fun at work, where can you have fun?

In a lot of ways it’s one step at a time for me. The best thing about that is that sometimes you stop and look around and can see how far you’ve come.

Egg on Hooray for small victories.

Apparently this is post 1,500 for me. That’s not the reason I’m on here. I didn’t even know that was the case until I logged in. Must be like a footballer about to run out for their 300th league game. The crowd is there cheering, bought the tickets for this occasion three weeks ago, the banner was made by volunteers who worked hard on it until 3am the night before, and until the bloke is about to run out and crash through the banner, he actually had no idea about the milestone at all.

OK, except that I don’t have legions of fans, and there’s no banner, and there’s no football ground… or game… it must be just like that.

Lucky it happened really, because I don’t have too much else to say.

It was nice to celebrate Gibbo’s 50th with her down at the coast on Saturday night.

I’ve forgotten how to insert photos but when I figure it out I’ll post one of me and my sis who is 17 weeks pregnant… I’m going to be an auntie… hooray!

I’m glad I’ve read lots of baby blogs over the past few years.

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt from all of you is that they seem to grow super fast and I need to get down to see them as much as I can.
