I’ve had such a nice time in the last few days reading other people’s blogs (not everyone’s yet… I think I’ve nearly caught up on the O’Meara/Pelletier family) and getting back to work, not to mention recovering from New Year frivolity, that I had forgotten to actually post anything myself.
The mystery of my hotmail password no longer working is wigging me out a bit (yes, just read one of Mark’s posts) and I’m in touch with Microsoft about it, but it has given me the impetus to post here.
Given the other resolutions posted, and I think it’s a tradition now that we all pretty much post them here, I’ll list my three…
- get at least 30 mins exercise a day… pretty easy on week days because I have to walk 10 mins each way to and from the car… an extra 10 mins isn’t too hard… it will take some discipline on the weekends. I will not revert to averages for the week given I played an hour of touch footy today…
- have at least 5 mins per day of very quiet time… either when I wake up, or go to sleep or a random time in the day, concentrate on thinking about nothing. I guess it’s a tiny form of meditation which I have found to have helped me this week so far.
- not drink any grog on school nights. OK, I’m allowed 2 light beers on a Sunday to be social. But other than that, nix. With DB on holiday and poker some nights of the week, it’s been a change of habit but not a difficult one.
I’ve decided to make my resolutions very action based rather than objective based. That’s on the sports premise that as long as you concentrate on the process, the result will follow. That mitigates the risk of having the objective actually sabotage you because it distracts you from what you’re actually meant to be doing to achieve it.
I also avoided food because there are some things I just can’t control.
Egg on So far so good.
